Membership in the National Welfare Rights Union is open to all current and former public benefits recipients. All others may join as Friends of the NWRU. Dues are payable on an annual basis and permit full participation in the organization. Benefits of Membership• Receive quarterly e-mails about welfare rights matters across the country. • Get referrals to and advocate information about public assistance benefits. • Participate in NWRU meetings and activities.
Membership DuesDues are $30 per year. ($5 to the NWRU and $25 to your state and/or local Welfare Rights chapter.) Members of the NWRU pay dues to support welfare rights activities and to demonstrate commitment to this poor people's movement. Payments are due by.... Upon payment, members receive....
Friends of NWRUNon-low-income persons are welcome to join us as Friends of the NWRU. As a Friend, you are entitled to the same benefits as Members of the NWRU, except participation as a Board member. Friends of NWRU suggested donations are $30 and may be made at any time.
Donations to the NWRUWe welcome donations of any kind to help alleviate and eliminate poverty. We are always in need of cash donations to help members and other low-income people with emergency assistance requests such as food, housing, utilities, clothing, and medical care.
